The Gang Goes to Seven Springs, 2021
Several weeks back, one of my friends complained that we always hang out at the same house and do the same things every weekend (which is true). This time she suggested we do something actually fun for St. Patrick’s Day. We thought a ski trip with our friends to Seven Springs Mountain Resort would be perfect. All my friends brag about how good they are on a snowboard and skis (myself included), but despite being friends for several years now, we’ve never gone skiing/snowboarding together!
After running into some issues with getting a place to stay, we finally found a condo that would fit all 11 of us. The place was nice and spacious, and it was looking like it was going to be a good weekend.
The first day of our trip arrives, and we give ourselves a tour of our new home. The place had a great view of the whole mountain, so we decide to get a better view from the back balcony.
The view was great...
You could basically see the whole mountain and a few trails we’d be going down the next day. When we turned around to go back inside, we discovered that the screen door was locked! We haven’t even been there for an hour before we trapped ourselves on the balcony- with nobody else at the condo!
Luckily, at least one of us has our phone on hand. We frantically call the rest of the group to see if they can rescue us. Luckily, they’re pulling into the parking lot as we call them. They try the front door, but apparently it locks automatically. We look down three stories to the ground below and realize there’s no safe way we could possibly climb down. They run around the backside of the condo, see us hanging out on the balcony, and we put heads together on how to escape.
I remember the one room has a front balcony facing the parking lot. And I’m pretty sure I left it unlocked. If someone could climb up tofront balcony, they could get in and save us. It was our only hope.
Remember my post on making friends? I mention my friends and I have recently become interested in rock climbing and, well, the hard work definitely paid off for this trip! I still don’t know how he managed to climb up to the balcony, but I’m glad he did. Everyone breathes a sigh of relief as we see our friend walk through the kitchen and unlock us from the balcony.
Luckily from then on, the trip was smooth-sailing. Saturday morning we hit the slopes from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until our legs feel like jell-o. We had every skill level of skiers and snowboarders from first-timers to double-black diamond experts, but we made it work out. Conditions were perfect, especially considering it was the middle of March!
All-in-all, the Seven Springs skit trip was a blast. I’m excited to se where the next ski trip will take us!
