5 Reasons I Love Using Natural Health Products
How do you choose what health products to buy? Do you go for the cheapest option no matter what, or do you attempt to sterilize you and your entire home with the most powerful chemicals available? Have you ever made an effort to use natural health products?
You’ve been told that bacteria and viruses are worse than the devil, and you need sterilizing chemicals to eliminate dirt, grime and dust from your life. It’s important to live clean and healthy, but most people don’t think twice about the chemicals found in their cleaning products.
With today’s corrupt marketing of “health” products, knowing what’s being put ON your body is just as important as what’s going IN your body.
If you care about you and your family’s health, it may be worth switching to natural cleaning products. Below, I cover five ways I switched to natural health products.
Natural Organic Deodorant
There’s two main categories of underarm-care products in the market: deodorants and antiperspirants. Antiperspirants plug up your armpits and clog your pores so you can’t sweat. Deodorants on the other hand make your underarms smell nicer when you inevitably start sweating.
Most store-bought deodorants are antiperspirants- the problem with this is two-fold.
One, it’s unhealthy to clog your pores. It blocks the body’s natural mechanism for releasing heat and irritates your skin.
Two, most store-bought antiperspirants contain aluminum. Did you know your skin is 60-70% absorptive? In places such as your armpits and privates, that rate goes up to 100%! Accumulation of aluminum from antiperspirants can lead to breast cancer and even Alzheimers, among other annoying side effects:
If you’re a normal person who sweats a normal amount, why are you unnecessarily clogging your pores? I used to have irritation under my arms from antiperspirant, but now I make my own deodorant. It’s cheap, easy to make, and smells great. Here’s my recipe:

Natural Organic Soap
“Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate, Stearic Acid, Lauric Acid, Sodium Oleate, Water (Eau), Sodium Isethionate, Sodium Stearate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Fragrance (Parfum), Sodium Laurate, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Sodium Chloride, Kaolin or (ou) Titanium Dioxide”
Did you read through all those ingredients? I didn’t think so. Do you know what any of those ingredients are? I didn’t think so. Those are the ingredients in a bar of Dove soap, one of the most popular “soap” brands available.
Soap is defined by google as “natural oils or fats with sodium hydroxide or another strong alkali.” Dove (along with hundreds of other mainstream soap manufacturers), not consisting of natural oils, is classified as “synthetic detergent” (or if you have a good marketing team, a “beauty bar.”)
Natural soap, the kind that’s been around for thousands of years, is traditionally made with animal fat (tallow/lard) mixed with lye. Lye, another naturally occurring compound, is derived from the ashes of wood, . Together, these basic ingredients have been keeping people clean since ancient Babylon times.
Animal fats found in natural soap are incredible at hydrating your skin, and don’t leave toxic residue on your skin. Synthetic detergents on the other hand expose your body to dangerous (and unpronounceable) chemicals that leach into your body.
Luckily, making your own soap is a relatively simple process. My soap recipe has very few ingredients, and you know them all!
Here it is:
Natural Organic Candles
There’s few things better than lighting a candle, sipping on tea and relaxing within the solace of your home beside the fireplace. What’s even better is when your candle is made of natural ingredients that don’t poison the air in your confined room!
Candles nowadays are made from one of many types of substances, including but not limited to paraffin wax, soy wax, beeswax, animal fats, palm wax, gels, and synthesized waxes. The list goes on longer than you’d think.
Unfortunately, most candles are made of paraffin wax, soy wax, or other synthetic wax blends. These “new-age” waxes are cheap to make, hence their popularity, but they’re harsh on your indoor air quality. Candles made from non-natural waxes are known to cause issues not only to yourself but to animal friends too! This article takes an in-depth look at how shady some candle brands really are and how their candles cause indoor air pollution.
Fortunately, there’s safe, natural candles for you and your furry friends. Candles made of animal products, such as beeswax, tallow or lard, are clean and natural. They’re sustainable and naturally-occurring, and make up the oldest forms of candles.
Candle-making is an easy process that can be customized to your personal preferences and health conditions.

Natural Sanitizing Wipes
Sanitizing wipes are an essential item in anyone’s house. When Sunday afternoon arrives and it’s time to clean countertops, bathrooms, furniture, and personal belongings, cleaning wipes are the go-to.
Unfortunately, store-bought cleaning wipes are expensive, loaded with chemicals, and are harmful to kids, animals, and those with respiratory issues. After these wipes get used up, they get tossed into the trash can and sit in landfills for years to come, leaching into the ground and your waterways.
Luckily, there’s an easy DIY solution that’s safer and better than commercial sanitizing wipes. Here’s what I do:
Natural Laundry/Dish Detergent
Americans haven’t always been cleaning their clothes and dishes with bite-sized tide pods in their washer. These cleaning pods and other modern-day detergents are manufactured for convenience and ease of use, but they come with drawbacks as well.
Most store-bought detergents are, you guessed it, toxic. The cherry on top is the plastic encasing distributing throughout your clothes, adding plastic to your toxin-laden clothing.
The natural solution is the better solution. I’ve found the combination of white vinegar, baking soda, and salt to be much easier and safer than store-bought detergent.
When I wash clothes, I simply dump 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup of white vinegar to the washer and 1-2 tbsps of homemade detergent..
My peace of mind has greatly improved, and I noticed my clothes were softer and brighter after the first wash!

Natural Organic Sunscreen
Sunscreen was only invented a few years ago, but most people now regard it as essential during hot and sunny summers. Sunscreen is marketed as safe to slather on your skin multiple times a day, but the reality is quite the opposite.
This white paste is loaded with dangerous chemicals, seeps into your porous skin, and is dangerous not only to your reproductive system but to sea life as well. The chemicals found in American sunscreen are so bad that countries around the world have banned them. This article gives you all the information you need to help protect yourself not just from the summer sun but from toxic sunscreen as well.
When I don’t have a sufficient tan to ward off the sun’s rays, I use this recipe for homemade sunscreen:
Fluoride-Free Life
Everyone should be brushing their teeth, but nobody should be using toothpaste that contains fluoride. It’s thought that fluoride has tooth-health properties, but now we know it does more harm than good.
Fluoride is a proven neurotoxin used in most commercial toothpastes and water sources in the US. Luckily, there’s companies that make fluoride-free toothpastes and fluoride water filters. Check out this article to learn more about protecting your brain and your body from the dangers of fluoride.
Conclusion
Modern-day “health” companies aren’t looking to keep their customers healthy- they’re looking to make profits. In the age of sketchy advertising and tricky ingredient labels, the knowledge of what you’re putting in and on your body is essential to healthy living.
You wouldn’t eat a spoon-full of toxic ingredients. So why are you rubbing them all over your body and your home? I’ve made the switch to homemade natural health products, and I’m never looking back!
I’ve used all the above recipes with great success, and I sleep soundly every night knowing I prioritize my health above the profits of corrupt corporations.
